SICC Excelsa CM Naturals is the second release from our 1% Series, a collection devoted to the coffees that make up less than 1% of what India grows: grown & processed by the South Indian Coffee Company, and scored an impressive 87+ on the SCA scale, this is coffee for the curious, for the drinker who wants to taste something they will never find on a supermarket shelf. The name says it all — when you pour this cup, you are consuming something that accounts for less than 1% of India’s total coffee production, and that rarity isn’t a marketing line, it’s the whole point, because this isn’t a coffee you drink to feel full, it’s a coffee you drink to experience a varietal. Roasted light to let every note breathe and processed through a 60-hour carbonic maceration — a slow, controlled fermentation that unlocks a sweetness most coffees can only dream of — the cup delivers grape candy, honeydew melon, blueberries, and delicate fruit florals, with a medium acidity, a low body, and a generous, lingering sweetness that makes it ideal for pour-overs and manual brewing.
