About Whiskey Barrel (No. 9) Aged Coffee - Kalathgiri Estate - Intense Aromatics

Kalathgiri Estate Whiskey Barrel No. 9 – Spirit Driven. This is one of the boldest barrel-aged coffees we have produced—crafted to showcase the unmistakable character of whiskey while preserving elegance, balance, and exceptional cup clarity. Sourced from Kalathgiri Estate in Chikmagalur, this microlot explores how whiskey barrel maturation transforms green coffee, imparting remarkable depth, layered sweetness, and refined oak complexity while allowing the coffee's natural character to remain vibrant. Carefully selected ripe cherries are processed using a washed + honey combination process, then dried to the ideal moisture level. Once stabilized, the green beans are transferred into seasoned whiskey barrels that previously matured premium whiskey. The coffee is then rested inside the barrels under carefully controlled conditions, allowing the porous green beans to gradually absorb the barrel's complex aromatic compounds, toasted oak character, and distinctive whiskey notes. Throughout maturation, the coffee develops an unmistakable whiskey-forward aroma, supported by elegant oak structure, creamy vanilla sweetness, and rich caramelized sugars. Every stage of barrel aging is carefully monitored to preserve balance while allowing the whiskey character to become the defining expression of the cup. Once the desired maturation is achieved, the beans are removed and roasted Light Plus, ensuring the delicate nuances developed inside the barrel remain vivid, integrated, and uncompromised. This is a whiskey-first coffee, crafted for those who appreciate the complexity and elegance of barrel-aged coffees, where spirit character leads while sweetness and structure provide perfect balance.
