About Elk Hill – Bold

About This Coffee Varietal: SLN 9 and Chandragiri Processing: Washed Country: India Region: Verdant Hills, Kodagu (Coorg) Altitude: 3000-3500 ft Farmer: RAMAPURAM HOLDINGS Weight: 250g/ 1000g In the Cup “I wouldn’t name it anything. It is so much of everything; it reminds you of your favourite fruit — sweet, mildly acidic, touched by a roasty character. Perfect balance.” That is precisely why we chose to develop the roast a tad more than usual — to highlight the sweetness, while still retaining its mild, bright character. The roast is there, but never takes over. Best on espresso, moka pot, and south indian filter but perfectly at home with any brew method you choose. About the Origin This coffee comes from Elkhill Estates in Kodagu (Coorg), Karnataka, India, one of India’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions. The Elkhill group of estates was established in 1870 and today spans around 1,600 acres, with coffee cultivated at elevations reaching approximately 3,500 ft above sea level. Set among the verdant hills of Coorg, the estates are surrounded by a rich, living ecosystem. Coffee is shade-grown beneath native trees such as fig, rosewood and jackfruit, alongside pepper, arecanut, avocado and silver oak. The combination of elevation, rainfall, fertile landscape and natural shade creates an environment well suited to producing distinctive Arabica and Robusta coffees. Elkhill’s estates include Silpi, Fairlands, Choudicadoo, Banangala and Raigode, each with its own combination of Arabica, Robusta and, in some locations, Liberica. The coffees are cultivated and processed within the estate ecosystem, with Elkhill operating its own curing works for quality control from harvest through preparation.

Coffee Q&A

Curious Life Coffee's tasting notes for Elk Hill – Bold lean toward Mildly Acidic and Sweet. Flavor is subjective and shifts with roast freshness, grind size, and brew method, so your cup may vary.
